Stripe / Online Giving

We partner with Stripe, using Stripe Connect, to help you process online donations directly through Karani. This integration allows you to securely manage and process donations, ensuring funds are appropriately transferred to your account and your donors receive the best experience possible.

How Does This Work

Karani integrates with Stripe to facilitate seamless online giving. Here's how the process works:

  1. Donor Interaction: When a donor makes a donation via your Karani donation page, they enter their payment information, which is securely tokenized by Stripe.
  2. Payment Processing: The tokenized payment data is sent to our backend, where we use Stripe's API to charge the donor’s credit card.
  3. Fund Transfer: After the payment is successfully processed, the funds are first deposited into your Stripe account. We then automatically transfer the funds to your connected Stripe account (if applicable).
  4. Refund Handling: In the event of a transfer failure (e.g., if the transfer to the connected account cannot be completed), we automatically initiate a refund to the donor to ensure there are no complications.

Connection

To start processing online donations through Karani, you need to connect your Stripe account:

  1. Sign Up or Log In to Stripe: If you don’t already have a Stripe account, you’ll need to create one. If you do, simply log in.
  2. Connect Your Account: From your Karani account settings, follow the prompts to connect your Stripe account via Stripe Connect. This step allows Karani to facilitate payments and transfers on your behalf securely.
  3. Configuration: Once connected, you can configure your settings to customize how funds are processed and transferred. You can set up different accounts for different campaigns or purposes as needed.
